When we are still arguing that digital and print magazine is dying, digital version of i-D was launched in Japan last month. For over 30 years, the cover of i-D magazine maintained the same style through different lens of the talented photographers. It is not simply because of the wink.
And then I was overwhelmed by the cover of the Japanese premier edition. It brings back all memories of stunning photography on a finest paper with clean and concise layout, highlighting my favorite Kiko Mizuhara. Yet I am more interested in photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Kiko Mizuhara is a rare character in the lens of Nobuyoshi Araki. She wasn’t sexually exposed as compare to other characters of Araki San. In the lens of Araki San, Kiko Mizuhara is even more unique and melancholy. Although this collection is not sexual at all, the white choker is no doubt another signature of the photographer. Its the two signatures combined that makes me love the cover so much!
